The Lebanese American University, a leading higher education institution within Lebanon and the Middle East, will take part in the MAGYC project’s research cluster on “Migration and Asylum governance through times of crises: continuity and changes in the governance configuration”. LAU’s participation will be led by Dr. Tamirace Fakhoury in the framework of the Institute for Social Justice and Conflict Resolution (ISJCR).

LAU will undertake a case study analysis on the multi-level migration governance in the Arab Middle East and its implications for resilience, and outcomes on mobility. The case study, which will focus on the EU-Lebanon cooperation in the framework of displacement, will generate insights into how bilateral agreements such as the compacts contribute to understanding the dynamics and metrics of multi-levelling in governance. The case study will moreover track shifting governance modes from pre-crisis mobility to post-crisis resilience.
