Maurizio Ambrosini
The research team will be lead by Professor Maurizio Ambrosini who is an expert in the area of Sociology of Migration, one of the most prolific study areas during the last years in the Department. Professor Ambrosini holds a sound experience of more than twenty years teaching a variety of topics in the area of General Sociology, Economic Sociology and Migration Studies in Italy, France and several other universities around the world as Visiting Fellow and Invited Speaker (Amsterdam, Aix-en-Provence, Lyon, Berlin, Oxford, Barcelona, Madrid, New York, Baltimore, Montreal, Guadalajara, Cuenca). From 2008 to present he has supervised more than 50 graduate, doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers in several different areas: from immigrants’ integration into the labour market to cultural pluralism, environmental migration, intermarriage and intercultural families, second generation migrants, xenophobia and hatespeech. He is also Founder and Editor of the peer review journal Mondi Migranti, first Italian journal in the field of Migration Studies. Consultant of the Italian Parliament and Member of the National Advisory Board for the Integration of Immigrants. More recently, in 2017 he was also appointed as an expert at the National Council of Economy and Labour (CNEL).
