nicole-hirt 200x250Dr. Nicole Hirt is a research fellow at the GIGA Institute of African Affairs. Her research focuses on the migration policy of the European Union, the persistence of authoritarian regimes, militarisation, diasporas and sanctions, as well as peace and conflict studies. Her regional focus lies on East Africa, especially on the countries Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Djibouti.
