WP4: Comparing Crises.

Comparing Crises: Lessons from “Migration Crises” in North Africa, the Middle East and the Greater Horn of Africa.

This Work Package conducts a comparative, multi-level analysis of the dynamics of South-South migration flows in key sending regions of migration to the EU. It maps how different levels of state stability interact with migration flows as well as with different migration governance approaches in key migration sending regions by analysing both national responses and proposals developed in the aftermath of a perceived ‘migration crisis’, as well as bottom-up responses developed by local authorities, NGOs and migrants with a historical lens. The goal is to build the empirical base for effective European migration governance efforts in the study regions.
